In Life - I am loyal and my family matters. First and foremost I am a Husband and a Father. Our family values are important to me, this drives me to serve the business community and also get involved in charities and social enterprise. I also love sports, in particular Cricket and coaching our kids, and can often be found on the golf course.
I started my career in Deloitte Tax, and have served many years as a CA in public practice, with a few years in the UK helping to launch Xero.
In business - I have developed a passion for challenging the status quo. I love to listen very carefully, ask questions, challenge decisions, diagnose blind spots, celebrate success and survive failures.

I have worked in several roles in a wide range of industries; from being a partner in KPMG to operating my own advertising agency. Most recently, I was a senior partner in a national accounting firm that focused on SMEs. Alongside this, I have an amazing family, I have been a professional rugby referee, trained racehorses, traveled extensively, and hardly ever seen without my golden retriever, Lochie.
Throughout my life I have relied on my values of loyalty and openness. I bring these values to my business life and how I engage and support my clients. My vast experience enables me to “look outside the square” to develop pragmatic solutions that are often not expected from a “normal accountant”. I am most definitely not a normal accountant!
Having worked together extensively for others, we have now combined our broad professional expertise and experience - and shared personal and professional values - in MurphyHughes. Seeing our clients confidently achieve their business’ ambitions and personal goals is what drives us.
